Youth Triathlon Course Details
The course will be the same as 2009's race, for those of you who were here last year.
The Swim
The first portion of the youth triathlon starts with the swimming. This will be at the Sullivan Civic Center pool. Long course athletes will start first (200 meters), then the short course athletes (100 meters).
The Bike
Athletes will exit the pool areas through the main entrance of the Civic Center. There will be a marked runway to the bike transition area. Bikers will ride the outside perimeter of Wyman Park heading East and turn left on to North Worth Street. Then left onto East Park Drive, then another left onto North Main heading south. Athletes will then re-enter at the main park entrance. After last lap rides will return bikes to the bike transition area. You will continue this same course for the number of laps assigned to your race group's distance.
The long course is 4 laps (4.4 miles)
The short course is 2 laps (2.2 miles)
The Run
Both long and short courses start from the bike transition area. Once leaving the transition area, athletes will run the inner loop of Wyman Park.
The long course (1.2 miles) athletes will run out .8 miles to the turn-around point then back along the same path to the pavilion parking lot to the finish line.
The short course (.8 mile) athletes will run out .4 miles to their turn-around point then head back along the same path to the pavilion parking lot to the finish line.
